About Us
The Texas Medical Center Women's Health Network (TMC WHN)
is a 501(c)(3) organization of health professionals dedicated
to advancing women's health through collaborations in education,
research, and advocacy.
The TMC WHN Definition of Women's Health
The WHN model of women's health integrates traditional biomedical approaches with gender-specific experiences across the life span. Thus, women's health encompasses woman-centered, multidimensional approaches to diseases, disorders, and conditions that affect females, as well as social, economic, and cultural factors that impact the wellbeing of women and girls.
Our Vision
We envision the elimination of sex and gender disparities in health and health care.
Our Mission
We are health professionals dedicated to advancing women's health through interdisciplinary, inter-institutional collaborations in education, research, and advocacy.
Our Values
- Promoting access to health care, particularly for vulnerable populations;
- Eliminating health disparities related to race, ethnicity, age, sexual preference, and socioeconomic status as well as sex and gender;
- Leading in technology.
Our Goals
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations in women's health research and education;
- Raise awareness among health professionals, policy-makers, and the community at
large about key issues in women's health;
- Increase and enhance resources committed to women's health;
- Promote leadership and career opportunities in women's health; and
- Link local, regional, and national resources relevant to women's health.
